Also, it may suck to be the barbarian or druid, so make sure one of the sorcs rushes you an mf character after you guys finish. Many of your Skill choices depend on what Legendary Aspects and Uniqueitems are available to you. Its a 5 hour or so commitment, but you can get there. If you havnt done it yet, try the team experience and split off them for mf when you get to level 75-80 off hell baal. Sure, you could solo the game on ladder reset, but you will be left in the dust. You cow to level 25 before starting nightmare. This is possible with static, op fire spells and cc from leap and howl. Everyone needs to be level 20 for ancients at least, but in reality, the party should be level 22-24 for Baal. ![]() He does spec holy fire in the early game, but this is almost irrelevant, because he is so weak compared to the trappers and druids who clear the path with aoe.Īnother point is actually that you should not be level 25 when you beat baal on this reset run if you are doing it correctly. The pakadin is often used as a conviction bot in hell, so his presence is needed. More importantly, the top two damage dealing classes for normal are fire trap assasins and fissure druids. In an 8 player game, holy fire pulse damage is extremely slow at killing monsters. Ladder reseting is done in a full party of 8, or as close as possible. Holy fire has always been the strongest early game paladin build, but ladder reset doesnt really work as you describe for most serious players. From Tristram runs to The Great Marsh, It really turns act 1-3 leveling into an enjoyable affair instead of a grind. I'd love to see more people adopting this strategy at low level because an 8 player, straight holy fire tomb game would be sheer madness, passive damage clicking and spraying all over the place. But roleplaying as a cleric with a leaf staff and charge until level 30 has been some of the most fun gameplay I've had in my time with this game. I've never tried using a bow with this build but that could be another way to do it, almost like low level enchant. Where it really shines is as a low level strategy for clearing entire waves of monsters passively, with no mana cost whatsoever, with a huge bonus to early game mele damage and a sure fire way to take down andariel because of her negative fire resistances. The holy elemental damage auras are some of the most fun in the game, but besides leveling this way or maybe MFing low areas with a dual dream or other expensive runewords, you'll never see the periodic area damage from these auras being very effective. So if you're tired of the same old builds and you're planning on starting a paladin or making a strategy for the coming ladder reset in May If you've never gone all in on holy fire for the push from 1-30 give this a go. Doing tomb runs for level 24, (not so much the cow level) and the huge waves of basically minionized (to borrow a term from D&D) mobs in act 3 are easily killed in 1-2 ticks of your aura, which with 20 points invested the radius basically fills the entire screen. ![]() That said this build can easily carry you to level 30. But I would strongly recommend a respec in act 4. ![]() But skilling straight into holy fire, and if you can get your hands on mage fist and leaf is a great early game strategy for starting a new ladder, or even just a new character. I find that the holy fire build is very very effective until beginning act 4. Many people would've jumped ship at this point into twinked out full sigon gear or respec to low hammerdin gear. I also, being a huge nerd, like to roleplay as a cleric and by the low level 20s I double down with leaf staff and charge. I put one point into might and one into sacrifice and then put the rest into resist fire aura anticipating a damage spike from the synergy when i unlock the skill. The last few ladders I've started a paladin and skilled straight into holy fire. These days it seems that the main use for holy fire is for power leveling. This skill was a favorite of mine back in the day, I remember skilling into it and naively running around act one with a bardiche, zeal and holy fire thinking I had broken the game. This time its the Holy Fire skill, when to use it when to respec and what its role is in the current meta. What's going on Diablo 2 reddit? I'm here with another spotlight to talk about my passion for this game.
